The Coursebird Sync browser extension

Connect your classes in one click, with your own login.

What it does

Open your school's course site in your browser, click the Coursebird Sync icon and click Sync now. It reads your classes and sends them to your Coursebird: due dates, announcements, grades, what you've turned in, the assignments with no due date that your school's calendar never shows, and your syllabus.

After each sync it also keeps the text of your lecture files and pages on your computer, a few at a time, so Coursebird can answer questions about a lecture without your course site open.

Want it to keep up on its own? After a sync, choose Keep in sync. Your browser asks you once, for your school's course site (and the syllabus tool your classes use, if they keep syllabi in one), and from then on it syncs every 30 minutes while that site is open. Turn it off in the extension any time.

What it never does

  • It never sees or stores your password.
  • It only reads your school's course site and your classes' syllabus pages: when you click Sync now, when you ask Coursebird about a course file, or, with Keep in sync on, while that site is open.
  • It never submits, posts, messages or changes anything on your school's site.
  • It never opens a quiz or exam or other students' work on your school's site, and never marks a message as read.

Work in an outside courseware tool your class uses (such as Cengage MindTap) opens only after you allow that site in your browser, then ask about that work in Coursebird's chat and confirm, every time. Opening it there can count as starting that activity.

Get it

Coursebird Sync is free on the Chrome Web Store: add Coursebird Sync to Chrome. Once it's added, Coursebird opens and shows you the three steps left.
